Growing a Progressive Spiritual Community to Build a Just and Loving World
Bread Communion
December 1, 2024
10 AM
On this day we celebrate a Bread Sharing Service, by breaking bread together and sharing stories of the origin of the bread we bring. This service is an inter-generational ritual of sharing a simple communion of bread and a time of reflection. Perhaps your family inherited a tradition of a particular type of bread from your ancestors. Or maybe you enjoy bread from an ancestry you choose to claim. You are invited to bring a loaf of bread of any type, preferably cut into slices, and share that story during the service. Let us welcome one another to the table in celebration of Generosity, Gratitude, & Community.
Growing a Progressive Spiritual Community to Build a Just and Loving World
Sunday 9/29 our staff and lay leaders created a wonderful multi-generational service to help us all learn about our new UUA covenant of six values with Love at the center. Soon after the covenant was adopted by the UUA, someone cleverly figured out that the values of Justice, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Interdependence and Generosity spell.... JETPIG!
Now, some folks don't love our theology boiled down to one whimsical acrostic, but others realize that not only does JETPIG allow us to memorize our six values easily, but it's also good fun for the kids' learning.
Well, along comes our fabulously talented and passionately UU Music Director, Matthew Cox, who wrote an absolutely wonderful song called, "If JETPIGs Could Fly" and shared it with us all.
