Seeking:
Faith Development Coordinator
Columbine Unitarian Universalist Church (CUUC) in Littleton, CO is seeking to fill a quarter time position. Columbine is a small but stable church (around 70 members) located in the southwest suburbs of Denver. We currently have about 20 children and youth in our program, and we hope to grow.
Description: Guided by our Unitarian Universalist Principles, sources, and traditions, the Faith Development Coordinator (FDC) directs and leads the Faith Development program. This includes planning and administering programs that nurture UU identity and the spiritual and religious growth of participants. The FDC will implement programs for children and youth.
CUUC is looking for an experienced candidate who is energetic, creative, takes initiative, plans ahead, and can work independently as well as in a team.
CUUC is especially looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, both with parents and with other members of CUUC.
Hours: 10 hours/week; all Sunday mornings except one off per month. Potential to expand beyond 10 hours/week as Faith Development program and membership increases. CUUC is flexible as to dividing hours between working at home and at the church, as needed.

Support and teach the mission, vision, and values of CUUC

Nurtures children, youth, and families by building and maintaining caring and responsible relationships with the families in our program.

Administers programs which teach and reflect our UU principles, values, history, and worship, including, but not limited to: the rights of marginalized persons, including those who identify as LGBTQ+, persons of color, persons with disabilities; respecting the inherent worth of all people; and appreciating a variety of spiritual, religious, and humanist beliefs.

Recruits, trains and supports volunteer teachers/advisors for all classes

Communication and Leadership

Recognizes and resolves conflicts effectively, applying principles of active listening, collaboration, and equity.

Sets goals and provides leadership in the development of philosophy of spiritual growth and learning.

Church Programmatic Support
-
Collaborates with the Music Director, Minister, and Worship Team for multi-generational worship, activities and services.

Oversees scheduling childcare for CUUC Sunday services, small groups and events.

Serves as point of contact and responsible adult for regional youth activities and service and learning in the wider community.

Serves as active liaison between The Mountain Top BIPOC youth ministry and CUUC youth.

Management and Expectations

Monitors the Religious Education budget and ensures that expenses, files, and records are kept current in cooperation with the Church Administrator.

Maintains active membership in and abides by the professional covenant of the professional organization for UU religious educators, LREDA (CUUC pays for LREDA membership).

Pursues continuing education and professional development, including representing CUUC at regional and national UU and LREDA events when possible.

Attends regular staff meetings.

Qualifications
-
Experience working with children and youth.

Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Experience
-
Experience in a UU religious education program.

Experience in the design and administration of religious education programming.

Full or partial completion of the Religious Education Credentialing Program administered by the UUA and LREDA (or equivalent).

Experience supervising volunteers and/or staff
-
Demonstrated experience working with and inspiring volunteers to increasing levels of leadership.
Compensation: Based on UUA recommended salary guidelines.
