Music Director
Matthew Cox
Matthew is thrilled to be a part of the music ministry at Columbine UU Church. He received a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music, and studied Audio Music Engineering and American Sign Language at the University of Rochester. Matthew teaches piano, voice, violin, and viola at Deeply Rooted Music School in Arvada, and performs as a vocalist and and multi-instrumentalist throughout the Denver Metro Area.
When he’s not thinking about music, Matthew enjoys listening to music while exercising or vegetable gardening, and occasionally takes breaks from listening to music so that he can listen to NPR.
Faith Development Coordinator
Leah Tracy
Leah (she/they) is grateful for the opportunity to use her love of the arts to create engaging Faith Development experiences at Columbine. Primarily a composer and music educator, Leah believes that telling stories, making music, and creating art together is the key to learning and growing as a community. Outside of her work at Columbine, Leah is pursuing a Master of Music in Composition at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she is an Aural Skills instructor. Leah loves singing in choirs, reading cozy fantasy books, visiting new coffee shops, and snuggling their two cats, Leonard and Maurice.
Accompanist
Alec Porter
Hailing from the rural midwest, Alec (he/him) has been our accompanist since April 2024. Since receiving degrees in music, he has served as music teacher, band director, and musical director at American Academy in the Douglas County School District and lives in Denver with his fiancée and two cats, Maurice and Leonard. When not teaching or at the piano, Alec can be found practicing a litany of American folk instruments, playing cards, or hiking.
Office Administrator
Kerby Baier
Kerby (she/her) originally hails from the southeast and is grateful to be a part of the CUUC team. Primarily she is a singer and voice teacher, and moved to Denver to work with Opera Colorado for their 2023-2024 season. She was previously based in the triangle area of North Carolina where she taught at a local school of music and performed locally.
She has worked in the church setting in the past, both as an administrator and as an associate music director. She enjoys spending time with her partner outside, practicing yoga, and (of course) singing.
