Becoming a member of Columbine Unitarian Universalist Church means joining a community grounded in covenant, curiosity, and care. Whether you arrived after a long spiritual journey or simply felt at home the first time you walked through our doors, membership is an invitation to deepen connection—with yourself, with others, and with the wider world.

What Membership Means

at Columbine

At Columbine UU, membership is not about having the “right” beliefs. It is about showing up with openness, honesty, and a willingness to live our shared values together.

As a member, you are invited to:

  • Participate fully in the life of the congregation

  • Build meaningful relationships rooted in trust and empathy

  • Help shape the future of the church through shared leadership and voice

  • Support the mission and ministry of Columbine through stewardship

Our community is held together by covenant—how we promise to treat one another—rather than creed.

Living Our Covenant

Our covenant calls us to be honest, compassionate, and accountable in our relationships. You will see this lived out in worship, small groups, committee work, social gatherings, and in how we navigate differences.

We believe that spiritual growth happens best in community, where we can be fully ourselves and be met with respect and care.

Community Beyond Sunday

Morning

Church life at Columbine extends far beyond weekly worship. Members connect through:

  • Worship & Music – Services that nourish the spirit, and opportunities to sing and make music together

  • Small Groups & Gatherings – Including hiking groups, discussion circles, and social events that welcome newcomers

  • Faith Development – Opportunities for learning, reflection, and spiritual exploration at every stage of life

  • Pastoral Care – Support during times of joy, transition, grief, and challenge

These shared experiences help transform a congregation into a true spiritual home.

Faith in Action: Serving Beyond Our Walls

Columbine UU is committed to living our values in the wider community. Members regularly engage in:

  • Justice and advocacy work through JUUst Act and partner organizations

  • Community events such as PRIDE celebrations and local rallies

  • Hands-on service projects, including holiday outreach and mutual aid

  • Interfaith collaboration and civic engagement

We believe our faith calls us not only to care for one another, but to help build a more just and compassionate world.

Stewardship: Supporting

What We Love

Stewardship is how we sustain the ministries and relationships that matter most to us. Financial pledges, volunteer leadership, and shared responsibility make everything we do possible—from worship and programs to justice work and community care.

Giving is not a fee for services; it is a spiritual practice and an expression of gratitude for a community that nurtures us and others.

Your Voice Matters

As a member, you are encouraged to participate in congregational decision-making, including annual and semi-annual meetings. We value shared leadership and believe the collective wisdom of the community guides us forward.

There is no single way to be a “good” member. Your presence, your perspective, and your participation—at whatever level is right for you—are enough.
