The Lunations The outside of the labyrinth was finished with 113 rays or cusps, forming 112 lunations, 28 1/2 per quadrant. These lunations are unique to the 11-circuit Chartres labyrinth design and are said to give the labyrinth a calendar function, allowing a way to keep track of the lunar cycle of 28 days. The lunations were finished by rounding their inside surfaces into semi-circles with small stones |
