New ... Reloadable King Soopers Cards
Supporting our King Soopers gift card fundraising program just
became easier. We’ve made the switch to the Reloadable King Soopers
cards. With this change, once you purchase your initial King Soopers
card, you can use cash, checks, or credit cards to reload the card
with additional money.
The King Soopers Reloadable cards work just like a pre-paid debit
card. You buy the card for $50 and it contains $50 that can be used to
buy groceries, pay for prescriptions, and even pay for gasoline at
stores with a gas center. You can reload or place additional money
onto your card using cash, checks, or credit cards at any King Soopers
cashier, service desk or gas station attendant. How much you put on at
one time is completely up to you. You then use the card just like a
normal debit card to make purchases at check-out or at the gas
pump. Any cashier or gas pump can also tell you how much money you
have remaining on the card at any time. When you recharge the card,
CUUC receives 5% of your reload amount. Best of all, you can buy cards
for family and friends and when they recharge it, CUUC will earn 5%!
It’s easy, quick, and a great way to support your church.
While you are purchasing your King Soopers Reloadable card at CUUC,
be sure to check out all of the other (non-reloadable) merchant gift
cards that are available. We carry in stock cards for Sunflower
Market, Applebee’s, Office Depot, Office Max, Home Depot, Barnes &
Noble, Starbucks and many more. If we don’t have gift cards for your
favorite merchant, let us know. There’s a list of hundreds of stores,
restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and more that we can order. CUUC
receives anywhere from 2% to 20%, depending on the card. And best of
all, it doesn’t cost you anything. You get a dollar spending power for
every dollar that you spend to purchase a gift card.
Ongoing CUUC Fundraising Activities
In addition to the offertory and pledges by members and friends,
CUUC has several ongoing fundraising activities that provide value
for givers.
These include the Gift Cards program,
Grocery Cards, the
Annual Auction, and
special fundraising events.
Gift Cards
Really Work
To Raise Money for CUUC! Now you can buy gift cards from
Barnes and Noble, Office Depot, Office Max, Starbucks, and many
other stores and restaurants you frequent on any Sunday. We’re
keeping a supply of the most popular gift cards on hand so you can
pick up just what you need when you need them. Gift cards are sold
at the table along-side Grocery Cards and Equal Exchange Coffees and
chocolates and may also be purchased from Julie in the CUUC office.
If If you want to order gift cards from any of the other hundreds of
retailers, you just fill out an order envelope and place your check
inside. A partial participating retailer list is provided
here (PDF Document).
Please look for the retailers and restaurants where you already shop
and notice the percentage CUUC could keep. Then choose the amount
you wish to spend at each store or service. Write the dollar amount
next to the retailer on the order form, total your selections, and
place your check, payable to CUUC, in the envelope. Drop off your
envelope at the table in the lobby after church on Sunday. The following
Sunday, your gift certificates will be waiting for you to pick up.
Remember, CUUC earns a percentage of every gift card we buy. Since
we started this fundraising program, CUUC has earned over $5,000!
For more information and a full list of retailers with the fine
print rules, refer to the CUUC Scrip Program binder at church, go to

Grocery Cards
Every time you purchase grocery cards you are donating to the
financial health of the church. Cards are available for King Soopers, Safeway,
and Sunflower Market. If you buy $50.00 per week of
grocery cards, in 10 years you will have contributed $1,300.00 to
CUUC! And it doesn't cost you anything because you receive a dollar's
worth of groceries for every dollar of coupons you buy. It is a
great way to support CUUC! Sold after the service each Sunday.
Annual Auction
CornUUcopia, CUUC’s annual auction
and dinner, will be held on Saturday, November 7ty, 2009. See the
CornUUCopia Web page. Last year's event was tremendous fun and
raised over $14,000!
Special Fundraising Events
Funds to support the church and its programs are also provided by
the CUUC Concert Series, Plant Sales, Book
Sales, and the
Coffee Project.
