We, the members and friends of Columbine Unitarian-Universalist Church of
Littleton, Colorado gather as hopeful, imperfect human beings committed to a
free, open, and loving search for spiritual meaning together. We embrace
diversity, for it is our differences that enrich us. We embrace democracy,
for it is what allows our voices to be heard. We embrace forgiveness, for
it is what opens us to hope. In order to enjoy the full, rich, and
meaningful relationships with each other that we seek, we make the following
promises to each other:
- We will treat each other with respect, compassion, and kindness.
- We will listen to and honor each other's contributions.
- We will acknowledge and address disagreements openly and gently,
expressing our concerns directly with those involved.
- We will accept responsibility for our part in making this spiritual
community everything we want it to be
We make these covenants with love in our hearts for each other and with a
sincere desire to make the world around us better for our being here.
Compassion is the teaching of this congregation
the quest for truth a sacrament
and service in love our prayer.
To dwell together in peace
to seek knowledge in freedom
to nurture the web of life and humanity's place within it
this we affirm
in a spirit of love and unity.
Columbine Unitarian Universalist Church is an inclusive religious community.
We support the intellectual and spiritual growth of each individual, work for
social justice, and promote Unitarian Universalist principles worldwide.
We, the a member congregations
of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote:
-
The inherent worth and
dignity of every person;
-
Justice, equity and
compassion in human relations;
-
Acceptance of one another
and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
-
A free and responsible
search for truth and meaning;
-
The right of conscience
and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in
society at large;
-
The goal of world
community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
-
Respect for the
interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
The living tradition which we
share draws from many sources:
Direct experience of that
transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a
renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold
life;
Words and deeds of prophetic
women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with
justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;
Wisdom from the world's
religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
Jewish and Christian teachings
which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
Humanist teachings which
counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn
us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.
Spiritual teachings of
earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct
us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
Grateful for the religious pluralism which enriches and
ennobles our faith, we are inspired to deepen our understanding and expand our
vision. As free congregations we enter into this covenant, promising to one
another our mutual trust and support.

Sanctuary. We ask that there be no sales or fundraising at our Services or in
the Sunday Order of Service or in the Sanctuary for any organizations other than
CUUC, the greater UU community, projects initiated by the Interfaith Community Services
Committee, or sales pre-approved by the Board. For any other fundraising, we
have provided an Outside Fundraising bulletin board on the back wall of the
Sanctuary, and ask that individuals use the Community Room
spaces for any sales or displays.
Members and pledging friends may submit sales related announcements for the
church newsletter. Thank you for your cooperation Please direct questions to the
CUUC Board of Trustees.
